Board Games - The Pillars of the Earth

Board Games with Scott is a regular series where Scott Nicholson takes a board game, teaches the rules, and briefly reviews it. This episode is about The Pillars of the Earth, a game based on Ken Follett's book. It is a family strategy game for 2-4 players. It's interesting to play it together with its expansion so as to get two extra players (2-6 players).

This is a very good way to introduce people into the fascinating world of boardgaming. Apart from the movie, it's so interesting to give students some background related to the difficult vocabulary they can face. A handout with some brief explanations of the rules should help them to understand the review of the game.
Typical class for the last days before whatever holidays or bank holiday we have. You can even try the game in class in this sports / reading / gaming day before Christmas or Easter.

This blog is one of the tasks included in the course I'm taking about the use of ICT in the teaching of a Foreign Language.
Let's see if we can find something interesting...
